Why slam or drop a truck?

First off no offense to anyone that drops a truck and puts big rims on it, to me I think it looks bad. These trucks look good stock maybe drop a bit for look others don't have. I also don't like anything more than a 2-4 inch lift. These trucks look so good stock I don't get it. Not that I'm old or dislike lowrider, actually I love lowriders, but not on these. I have a 1964 chevy impala ss I never mess with it, also a 81 Buick Regal. My Regal was supposed to be green lowrider but I had kids at a young age, still have the car still young not sure what the paint or look be no hydros though ruin my frame etc.. To the point I like lowriders a lot I love hydros southside chi. I don't like 22 on cars or some slammed trucks. A s10 looks good slammed but not a big truck. Maybe someone explain the culture to me, why they like it?? My wife and kids are Mexican but I like lowrider cars not a big chevy truck ruins the purpose to me.. Like to hear anyone thoughts thanks.

I couldn't agree more with you about the lowering and raising of a truck. I can see a lift if you are in some serious mudding but to drive around everyday with a 10" lift seems like a giant waste of money. But the lowering thing I really don't understand, I have seen some trucks that look ok but to be honest I still don't get it then you cant really use the truck as a truck (same with the lift). I guess it is just what people like. To me I would keep it stock height with a 2wd and if you need a lift go for it but with all the hassle of a lift it seems pointless to me. I mainly just scrap, plow, and Drive my truck so I dunno. I think a lot of them are just toys but to each his own.

What's the point in keeping it stock? Looks boring. I love big wheels to fill out all that space in the wheel wells.

You know a truck classic when you can leave as it is and looks good. So they are boxy, to me these truck appeal to me without any modicatons. Like I put up there i'm not trying to offend anyone, not might thing was looking for explanations not pictures ya know. A truck to me is to use work, haul it's a mans truck. If I want sit low I got my 64 ss and my 81 not a pick up. Like the other guy said, it's all what a person likes I respect it all the way. Just not my thing was looking for a explanation really..

they like them lowered just like your impala its different, it stands out, even if someone ask why would you do that that’s what they wanted to be noticed as just not another classic truck. like mine its lifted 6" with 38s still a work truck I can trailer almost anything with it that can use a class 3 hitch and yet its eye catching and I can drive it almost any where, and she still looks good dirty. How boring would it be for all trucks to be the same size same paint and same tires? It would be like ones of those commercials where everyone is the same going to work in line but then one person changes their mind and wants to be different

As stated by all, personal preference, and individuality. You just like the look of stock, if there were not people who wanted different, we would not have the aftermarket world we have today.

There are a few members on here that posted pics of their trucks and the immediate response from people who had lifted or lowered trucks was for them to keep it stock because it was in such good condition. So, even us tall or short guys like a stock truck.

Just because its what they like I like mine lifted 4 inches with 35s some hate it but like I always heard dont worry about whats on my tv you aint got to watch it LOL

I've had my share of lifted, lowered, and stock height vehicles. And my general rule of thumb, is thou shalt not drive stock. Even if you have simple little things to your truck that make it the way you want it, could be a set of wheels, or euro tail lights (blech) or even an aftermarket stereo or exhaust, these little things make the truck your own. People, myself included, I like a bit more blatant mods, lowered or lifted suspension etc.

I can appreciate any car/truck guy modifying their ride for their individual tastes. Personally I like the C series stock or slightly lowered. K-series stock or slightly raised a bit. My thoughts are that anything in extreme forget using it like it was intended for... A truck... That said, too each is own. What I don't like is too small a tire in the wheel well or tires sticking out past the body line due to the wrong offset for the truck. I will never dis someones ride but if opinions are asked of me I certainly won't pull any punches. I know I wouldn't have started a post like this... Sorry....

I love anything that is not stock, raised (my Choice) or lowered show to me that the guys is a truck nut like myself. Stock is for the everyday driver. i love the look i get from people when they see my truck and than the questions that follow. You pull into the cooffe shop with a stock truck and people say hey that truck looks nice, i pull in and people say WOW that truck looks sweet. just my 2 cents I just love anything that is tweaked and I canadmire the worked that went into it. Same as all those young kids in there honda civics.....not my cup of tea but I can see that they are car nuts and the work they have done....... to eachs own. I can image a world with everything STOCK

The stock wheel offset on these trucks was probably the biggest "WHY" for me so when someone says these trucks look great stock I throw up in my mouth a little. The 2wd's looked like trucks on training wheels. The 4wheel drives came with Ugly wheels wide in the front and again narrow in the rear. As far as lowering or raising. I like the 4x4's anywhere from 2.5-4" lifted. It's streetable and good for slight offroading and they look awesome. The 2wd's I like them 2"-5" lowered. Beyond either I'm not a huge fan for a street machine. If it's for off road - let's go big. If it's all show then give it an air drop so you can put it on the ground if you want.
Keep one thing in mind - it's
culture
and that is the hardest thing human beings have to embrace. Like many others said, it's preference either personal or cultural. Either way, unless it's butchered I can appreciate it. If everyone was the same and all the 73-87's were stock I certainly wouldn't waste my time on this website. We have a running thread of things we hate about these trucks so you can pinpoint in there all of your dislikes.

when mine is done it will be up on a lift with 35's but thats in the future. i like this trucks lifted. a buddy of mine has a burban thats runnin 38's i love how it looks. i know i will have all sorts of aftermarket stuff on mine starting with the bumpers, and radio.
