14 Bolt S.F. with 4.56's?

I just dragged home a thrown together 78 K-10 with a Dana 60/14 bolt S.F. combo in it. When I seen the S.F. rear I thinking 3.73 gears (4.10's worse case scenario) to replace the 4.56's in my M1008 Military truck. I only planned on using the D-60, as I already have a 14 bolt F.F. with 3.73's from a 1 ton.
When I pulled the front cover and sure enough, 4.56's in it. I won't get back to the truck until this weekend to pull the rear cover to see if the gears match. Has anyone else run across a 14 bolt S.F with 4.56 gears in it?

are you asking if 4.56s are available for it, or if it came stock like that? if it was "thrown together" then anything is possible.

Asking if you could get them from the factory. I've never run across them before in a semi floater.

I have never seen a 60 paired with a semi floater before. I would bet you find different gears in the rear end.

I haven’t seen many s.f. let alone paired wit a 60 like blazin said. Don’t make sense at all

 Wouldn't a stock K10 come with 10 bolts front and rear? If so, it sounds like someone replaced the 10bolts in the front and rear with the 60 and SF 14bolt. No telling what they had going on. Better check everything out real good.

Oh ya, this truck is definitely a thrown together mess. Like I mentioned, I'm on the hunt for a Dana 60 with 3.73's. This was a $1200 craigslist score so I figured I'd take a chance, nothing to loose. I'll get to the truck this weekend and pull the rear diff cover and go from there.

Blazin nailed it. Pulled the cover and the GM gears are stamped 10 41. Sure enoungh it has 4.10's in the rear. It also seemed odd that the semi floater used the 1 ton style lower spring plate. This truck has some good old fashioned hackin going on.

Did you ID the rear end? Sounds like they did it backwards. Typically the 3/4 and 1 ton 4x4 trucks use a Dana/Spicer 60 or a Corporate 14 bolt FF rear differential with the most common gear ratio of 4.10:1 and the front typically used a Dana/Spicer 44 with a gear ratio of 4.0909:1 and the Dana 60 in HD applications.

Thanks Vile. Ya, it was done backwards alright. Dana 60 with 4.56's/14 bolt s.f rear with 4.10's.
