Where do you buy your tires at?
« on: May 20, 2011, 10:59:35 pm »
I am curious to know where you buy your tires.  I have been price checking and have run out of places to call.  My family usually buys from Sears or Sam's Club and we always get the road hazard plan.

My 3 favorite places for getting a better value on tires are Costco, Walmart and Discount Tires.

i always buy em at the local guy.    i did some figuring, and if i bought them online, it would actually cost about the same ammount as if i were to buy them local ( after shipping, and mounting costs are added on)   so i might as well buy em local and save a lot of hassle if something goes wrong.

Ive been buying tires from the same guy for over 20 years now. Its a local shop and I would trade for the professionalism. He has lots of experience of what fits and what wont as do many of his hands. The other tire supercenters in the area only know what the computer tells them. Prices are comparable and road hazard isnt prorated tire calculations. He just replaces the tire.

The set I have right now are a result of my having a blowout (old rotten tires the truck came with) in front of a local tire shop.
Sometimes I still wonder at the timing... ;)

I've bought tires from Les Schuab for at least 20 years now. I use them for brakes and alignments, too.

Craigslist.  Full set with less than 1k miles on a set of aluminum Toyota 4 runner wheels.  $150 for all, and I thought I'd be able to get a decent portion of that up front cost back after selling the wheels, but now I'm stuck with the 4 runner wheels sitting in my shed because nobody seems to want them.

You can scrap them for $13 each here in Mass, check around your area.

I have a wholesale account at a place called Town Fair Tire. The prices they give me are great but the service,,, don't get me started.

Been buying mine from discount tire.   Finally I got a place that the tech guys dont do stuff to my truck to make me PO'd  They also cut me a bunch of deals though because I bought a LOT of tires from them in a short span.  Now though I can take others peoples cars in for rotations and stuff and they do it for free even if the tires arent from there.

I bought a set for the truck, the trailer, the focus, got my dads set on his truck, and got the ex a set.  Actually they're one of 3 places I've ever been to that does NOT use my center caps for bowls to hold the lugs when they take em off.  and I also noticed that the same people work there every time I'm there.

Goat,
Not sure how far you are from Wintersville, but this guy always has some hot deals:  http://snydertire.com/  I live about an hour and a half from him and sometimes its well worth it to check him out. I'd think he was about the same distance from you.
