Military Blazer
« on: May 24, 2011, 11:33:45 pm »
Hello all,  Just wondering a few questions about Military Blazers

A friend of my step dad got an m1009 about a year ago and recently stopped over to pick some stuff up at our house.  He got it from a kid he works with for $1500.  By looking at prices on Ebay they go for about $3500-5000 depending on condition but it looks like these guys buy a bunch of them put new batteries, glow plugs, starters, tires, etc...  I am wondering what the price is on these things if you were to go straight to a military auction and pick one up.  The 6.2 in a blazer is just IMO awesome and I gotta say people rag on them too much.  Anyways is there a way for a private citizen such as myself to go to a military auction and pick one up and if so approximately how much do they go for in say running but needing a bit of work (tires, glow plugs, batteries). Basically if a guy can go out and buy some and put a ton of work into them and then turn a profit and sell a rust free one for $4000 I think he must be picking it up for pretty cheap, and I want one, but would rather do the work myself and pay way less.

My dads cousin can buy from gov auctions and my dad says those trucks go anywhere from 500 to 3000.

Expect to pay about $3000 for an M1009 at the government auctions.

Check gsaauctions.gov  they are usually a little cheaper but a city, state or fire department got them first. Then they have to sell them back through gsa. Which is not a bad thing. Plus, you can get it in as little as 2 days instead of the 2 months it takes for your first govliquidation purchase.

Check WWW.steelsoldiers.com for more info.

BEEFM1009. You bring up a few good points about the GSA auctions. When I bought a M1028 from the a few years ago it was an instant deal. I bid on it, did the paperwork, and drove it away all in about an hour. You bring up another good point with the police/fire dep getting first choice at them. Keep in mind that they too will eventually sell them off so keep an eye out at the town/city auctions. I now have an m1008 and m1009 that are former police vehicles.
