Dont know the proper name but is there not a speacial socket for tightening the 4x4 nut in my front hub. if so are there different kinds or are they all the same. i have tried tightin it with a flathead but cant seem to get it tight enough.

there are a couple different sizes. Depending on if you have a 1/2 / 3/4 ton. or a 1 ton.

Agreed, just buy one. I bought the one labeled 1/2 ton, and the one labeled 1-ton because I didn't have mine apart yet. It turned out the one for the 1/2 ton worked on my 3/4ton. So the 1-ton is now around for a "just in case" use. I do hope to upgrade to 1-ton axles some day. hey, maybe that's a good justification to the wife, "but honey, I need those axles so i have something to use that socket on". Think she'll buy it?

There are two tools needed, duct tape and WD40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the duct tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the WD 40.
