76 k30 Army, front axle

I bought 76 Chevy K30 Army, manufactured in Canada.
On the front axle to see this


This is the factory part?

Ive seen that on a truck around town before. I assumed it was a sway bar? Not sure. Id love to know.

Looks to be some type of axle truss.  Don't think it's factory, though.  Don't think GM ever put on axle trusses.  Aftermarket or maybe put on by the military - IDK.
1975 K-10 SWB Fleetside - 350/SM465/NP205/D44F 12-boltR, 3.73 gears.  Original owner.

X2 axle truss. Keeps the axle tubes from popping out of the carrier.

1 Ton's came with Dana 44 and Dana 60

and I have the same brace on my 75 K5, you can kinda see it in this pic

I thought GM started making the K30 based Military trucks in 84. I thought Dodge had the contract in 76.

Us Canadians were way ahead of the game in the truck selection haha. We knew in 76 Chev's were superior.

M1009 would be basically a 3/4 ton Blazer

He is saying this is a 76 K30

The M1008 is the 5/4 ton Truck and I think the first year was 84

ment the m1008 lol but thats what i was confused about they started in 83 to 86. so this truck has nothing to do with the us military?
