Changing from TBI to carb:

So if you/we were converting a car originally equipped with TBI to now run carb, would it be ok to leave the original electric pump in the tank?   Would it pose any restriction to the fuel?

I can't imagine where this is headed but I would think just like any electric fuel pump with a carb set up you would need proper fuel pressure regulation and safety measures when the engine dies to cut the fuel pump off if the engine dies.  My question is why would you want to do that conversion???

i should have made it clearer----i want to use a carb AND mechanical fuel pump.   i'm wondering about leaving the original electric pump in the tank because it may be alot of work to get it out. i do not want to actually use the electric pump in any way.

Reasons for the conversion (and yes, i think EFI is better than carburetion) is easy, fast, accurate diagnosis and easy, fast repair.

My buddy did this when he swapped out his 4.3 in his Elcamino for a 383. The motor seemed to starve for fuel. He remedied the problem by putting a regulator in, used the return line to send unneeded fuel back to the tank. Seemed to work pretty good after that.
