Gas tank filler hose question
« on: October 01, 2011, 07:24:55 am »
I need to order 2 new filler hoses that go from the gas tank filler cap to the tank itself.

I have a 4WD 1976 Chevy 4x4 but the rust free box I got for my rebuild is a bit newer, according to the pages of the   catalog (I don't think I can order them through this website, correct?).
It shows the style of filler neck I have to be either79-81 or 82-87, but doesn't specify the differences in the hose.

Could anyone give me any tips or direction on how to know what hoses to order? I can provide more information or pictures if needed.
Thank you in advance.

Do you have a gas tank door or just the round hole? That's the major difference.

I have the square gas tank hinged door on both sides. Sorry, should have mentioned that.

First try local auto parts store, otherwise I know auto parts warehouse, gas tank usa, or the parts bin has them, rock auto might also, didn't check there.

So you need the hoses for the square tank setup provided the fill pipes were swapped to the newer style as well. Just look at the picture.

Did you mean look at the picture in the parts catalog?
In their book, it shows different part numbers for a few different years (both for the square door type). That's why I was curious if there were like two different types or lengths or something.
