Using 4WD...

I feel stupid asking this, but I've never owned a truck with 4WD drive like this before. What is the correct way to put the truck into 4WD? The guy I bought the truck from said I should lock the hubs first (duh), put the transmission in neutral, then shift the transfer case to whatever I need. I didn't think to ask how to take it out of 4WD, now that I think about it. Anyways, does that sound right? Why can't I just hit the brakes and shift the transfer case and keep going?

I do have a 208.

So as long as my hubs are engaged... just going down a trail... shift it while I'm in drive tooling along? That's cool.

Yes you can shift it into high range while your moving. I wouldn't recomend doing if your spinning the tires though.
Low range you have to be stopped.

to add on to what they are saying as long as all your tires are turning the same speed. not spinning at all just turning the rpms from the front and rear will match and you can lock it in 4wd. i have gone from low to high while moving aint pretty

i have gone form low to high (203)while moving usally less then 15mph and off throttle

i have done 205 shift on the fly as well... (hubs need to be locked in)
