2WD Tire Size

I'm thinking of using Firestone Destination AT tires on my 1976 LWB 2WD and am looking for opinions on sizes.I'm thinking of using 30x9.5 or 31x10.5.Does anyone have something like these sizes on their 2WD and if so which one...how does it look...

I have 31X10.50's all the way around and it looks good, makes your truck alittle taller but it takes away from the handling alittle. I like 255/70's all the way around. It fills the fender well without a large tire. Or you can run smaller tires in the front and bigger in the rear like 235/70's in the front and 255/70's in the rear. Im talking all about 15 inch tires it depends on what you want. Just a suggestion.

From the law-enforcement mentality I have, don't forget to re-calibrate your speedo b4 it's too late.  You'll be going much faster w/ larger tires than what it reads.

Thanks Chevyguy.I had those sizes on my last truck(79 SWB 2WD with 455 Rocket and Cragers) except 60's on the back and it looked quite nice.This time I'm going for more of a truck as in non high performance(283 with 700r4) and I want tires that can pull my boat up a gravel boat launch.

Sgt. Del,thanks for that.I haven't installed the engine or tranny yet so I still have the pleasure of sizing up the speedo gears ahead of me. My rear axle is 3.40 gear and what I would like to achieve is a decent looking truck with good milage,reliabilty and traction in snow,gravel...

Last year when I got my tranny at the wrecking yard, a truck had just come in with 15 x 8 Rallys and Michelin 30 x 9.5 x 15 XC LT4's that were brand spanking new. Wrecking yard guy said $40 for the pair, so I grabbed them.

I just put them on the rear of my 85 last weekend, the rims had been painted black and looked like crap so I re-did them and the fronts to match with a $0.96 rattle can of Walmart Flat Black, it'll do for now. The front tires are 235/75-15s on 15x8 rallys.

i have an 87 2wd swb. it has 255-70-r15s all the way around and it looks good. gives the truck a muscular look i think. bad thing about small tires in the front and bigger ones in the back is that you can't rotate, well you can rotate them but it will look GOOFY as heck and probably handle funny. and i always heard you had to have more front end alignments done with this set-up.

Thanks for the photo Ziptar.The 30" tires look good.I think I will go with the 31" as they are 1" wider;should look a little bit beefier.

I ordered the Firestone Destination A/T's today.Size:31x10.5x15".Should be good tires.Good reviews on The Tire Rack. Thanks guys.
