Brakes Locking

Driving to work this morning I was going down a hill and put the clutch in and just tapped the brakes and it locked up and I stopped completely, I tried it again after and it did it again.. Any ideas what that could be?

Was it the front or rear or all of  the brakes locking up?

     This answer would help in determining/isolating where the problem could be coming from.  Have you had any work done to your master cylinder lately ?  ( also, did both back lock up or just 1, or same with front, could be a wheel cylinder )

Well before I bought the truck the guy did all the brakes when he lifted it. new master cylinder, all new hard and soft lines and apperently the pads and such. I tried again yesterday and it didn't do it but today I noticed it once. I'm not really sure if its front /back or what wheel. How could I check? and what could cause this?

Drum brakes when out of adjustment can cause this too.

The adjusters can also get sticky. Whenever I do a rear brake job on one of my vehicles i will clean up the threads and apply some anti sieze. When I remove a caliper I clean up the slides and grease them as well.

Raise the vehicle and see if any of your wheels are dragging, then a careful inspection can give you some clues; look for uneven wear or broken parts etc and post back the results

My back brakes did this. I bought the wrong rear wheel cylinders. They have 4 different sizes for my year (86). When I put on the brakes the rears would lock up. All depends on your rear brake drum size.
