squeeling noise??
« on: November 07, 2011, 02:24:56 pm »
I bought this truck 2 months ago and I also posted a issue about my power steerig bracket and how it squeels when romp on it. My altenator went out so I replaced it. Now the squeeling is there not stop and it sounds like it is coming from my water pump. I do not like the V belts but i do not have the time to go to the junk yard and obtain a single belt system or the money. I noticed the waterpump pully  is wobbleing as it is turning. Any suggestions on this ( I imagine I need to replace Water pump because when i start truck up it continous to keep squeeling until i put it in drive, then when i stop and shut motor off it will making a squek noise also, any help will be great

Take the belt off the alternator and see if the constant squealing stops.

it only seems to do it when there is pressure put on it by the belt. It is not the alternator but the water pump is only 30 bucks so ill try replacing it. :-\

If your water pump pulley is wobbling when the engine is running, replace it and report back.  Also v-belts when they start to wear and dry out, they will squeal or make noise.  Might also try replacing belts.

replace the pump?

You stated your water pump pulley is wobbling, I made an observation that it should not wobble, therefor fix it by replacement of either the bent pulley or the shaft on the water pump is bent, therefor replacement is in order.

If your water pump is bad it may also be leaking some antifreeze on the pulley making it squeal.

I would replace the clutch fan too while you are at it. Also make sure your belts are in the proper grooves if you have multiple groove pulleys.
