Looking to buy 33x12.50x16.6 tires
« on: November 29, 2011, 04:58:12 pm »
I have a 1976 3/4 ton 4x4 fleetside.
I got a good deal on some 8 lug 16.5" aluminum rims and will be needing to get some mud/street tires for them.

With my current 4" suspension lift I figure I won't be able to go much bigger than a 33" tire without having to possibly trim my fenders and I really don't want to do that.

Anyway, it appears the size of my rim narrows down my options. Are 16.5" rims considered a bit unusual when it comes to larger tires?
I'm going to purchase 33x12.50x16.5" tires and see that BF Goodrich makes tires for them but I don't seem to find many more options. How many different companies make tires that would fit this size?

Can anyone steer me in the direction of a good place to find a decent price on more aggressive type street/mud tires in this size?
Thanks guys.

Super swamper and pitbull tires have a nice selection of tires for 16.5" rims, but I don't know how much they have in that small of a size.

I've passed on many a set of Aluminum slots on CL for this very reason. Cooper Discoverer and ProComp MT used to make 16.5's also but they're not listed on their sites anymore. Other than the two or three already mentioned, you might try a farm store such as Orschelen's that sells tires or check with your local tire shop and see what they can get. Good luck.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I was afraid I was gonna be a bit limited when I got these rims. I've even been looking for a used set, but they too are a bit hard to come by.
Dang these bigger sizes are expensive!!

Its not just the bigger sizes all tires are expensive now. I've got a buddy whose parents own a tire shop here in town and when I start razzin him about how high tires are he always responds with "well, what are tires mainly made of? Oil and steel"
