eek! Sliding!

I was out and about day before yesterday and it snowed nicely but the problem was I was sliding everywhere! only thing kept me on the road and moving forward was the big v8!

I don't know if I need new tires (ok ya I need to replace the 10 year old tires but the tread is about half in or so) or should I put weight in the back? it's a 2wd.

In a 2 WD truck, adding weight to the back will make a big difference. There is just simply not enough weight to the back of an empty truck bed to help plant the tires to the ground. Several hundred pounds of extra weight will help.

Type of tires is another difference. If you have wide lug tires on hard packed snow, you will not get very good traction. Narrow tread tires packed with snow will grip the snow on the road much better.
Wide lug tires are better in deep snow or mud.

You can have the biggest V8 in the world, but spinning the tires on snow only takes about 5 horsepower.

I will add weight in to the back as soon as I can.

      Your tires look ok, but do add a couple of hundred pounds in the rear of bed, that will help by a long shot.  So you got to keep the truck ?  Last I heard your dad was trying to make you get rid of the truck.

Add weight for sure! Down shift and go slow down hills, keep your speed down and don't go off the road. A limited slip will help as well.

he's been quite since my brother been "using" two of his cars and I don't complain about my truck ^_^.

I have Ls and I was in low at 4mph lol. I will defiantly put more weight in the back tomorrow.

You want to use sand bags or something that doesn't fly easily in a wreck. Blocks or other similar objects can fly thought the back window and clean your head off if you hit something head on.

Sand is good, and can be used as a traction aid if needed.
Also, if you shovel some snow into the bed, it'll add weight, and will unload itself during the thaw.

One time i got my old truck stuck so bad i put the transfer case out while trying to get it unstuck.  I ended up walking down the snow and ice covered road to the farmers house gave him 30 bucks to get his tractor out and pull me out to the black top. limped it to the garage and my buddy met me there and gave me a lift home.  now there is a shovel in the tool box at all times along with a come-a-long and chain.

Better be careful with those rock hard biased ply tires.  Weight will help but I bet those tires have some real age on them.  Looks like the old 7.50 x 16 tires I had on my old 72 K20.

hehe, yes the tire are hard bias tires there little dry rotted and help up with tubes. I think they were put on the truck about 10+ years a go. lol
