Go with 3.42 or 3.54 axle ratio for best fuel economy.

Make sure you fix that killer dowel pin before installing the engine.

Stripped the Axles from the donor truck and cut off the old spring perches for the rear. Built some new spring perches from box tubing, Still need final gusseting. I will finish weld and gusset all the brackets that I build after mock up when the frame goes back out for reblast and paint.


Engine loaded up bringing down to get steam cleaned. Every gasket is pouring from it so it is going to get a total reseal.

It's caked on there. Yes all the holes got plugged before it got sprayed.

I rolled the front axle in place and got it into its sweet spot. I then braced it up with some 1x to start on the front 4-link. I ended up moving the axle foward 2" from the stock location.


I also had a few Fuel sumps machined up so whatever tank I decide to go with I'll have the fuel supply all set, Not sure if I want to run stock saddles, Blazer or just build a cell at this point.

Started on building the 4-link frame mounts. It's been a long time since I made snow flakes out of paper but it worked well to figure out a circle pattern.

Some of the parts and Pieces. Need to cut a few more plates then it's ready to assemble. That will have to wait for another day.

At first I thought we had plenty of room too. Three years ago we went from a 1500sqft shop to an 11,000sqft shop. It was full 6 months after we moved in.

Whats the plan for the steering? There's really alot of options it will be interesting. It's obvious you have alot of talent ..will be following. Keep up the good work!

So I got some more of the 4-link bracket made. didn't get much done today. Had a few jobs that needed to get out today.

For the steering I am going to use the chevy 2wd box. I need to find a conventional pitman arm to work with it then I will fab my own crossover steering. I have a few old exhaust tube benders going to see if they will bend the 1.5x.25 dom when I go to do it. If not I will devise a plan to use a press.
There's no talent here.  It's just metal, Nuts and bolts.

Got a bit of time to work on it today. Got one of the lower control arms partialy built. 3/16 plate steel that I just slapped together to make an arm.
Using Rubicon Express Super flex joints at one side and Poly bushings at the other.
Arms are bent to allow for full lock turning without rubbing.



tried to get a good pic of the weld. I'll try tomorrow with no flash.
