91 suburban engine - does it have manual fuel pump capability?
« on: February 04, 2012, 10:56:42 am »
Hi
I found a really cheap 91 Suburban 350 engine for sale. I'm going to take the fuel injection off of it and put a carb. Does a 91 350 block have the manual fuel pump place on the block? Do these engines have roller cams? It's a running engine complete for $225. Thanks for your help.

I'm sure someone knows better than me, but I think it has a block off plate for the fuel pump but has no lobe on the cam to drive a fuel pump.  No big deal, just an electric pump and regulator fixes that.  I'm pretty sure its not roller anything.  Just hydraulic lifters, stamped rockers, and low flow (undesirable) heads.  I think you have to get to vortec era stuff for roller engines.

So the place for a manual pump is there but I would have to replace the cam?

Some engines had block off plates. Some were cast solid in the area. You need to look at it to see.
Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs
