Molly Hatchet
« on: February 23, 2012, 09:42:39 am »
For years my daughter has been raiding all my music. She realized that the music she has listened too all her life in my trucks with me is somehow her favorite.  ;D When all her friends listened to the boy bands she would rather listen to Skynyrd, AC/DC, Metallica, Zepplin...

She surprised me on Christmas with two tickets to go see Molly Hatchet in the third row. One for me and one for her. I don't know what I liked better the tickets or the fact that she wanted to go to a concert with dad! This weekend is the concert. I can't wait, haven't done anything like that in 20 years. It's going to be a good time regardless of whether Molly Hatchet can still do it or not.

Has anybody seen them recently?

First things first, may as well listen to it while we're talking about it.....

Way cool of your daughter to get you two tickets and that she wants you and her to go together. You're obviously a dad that is close to his daughter. Awesome.
I've unfortunately never seen them in concert, I'll bet they still rock.
I wonder how many of the original band is still together?
You can bet I'll be having some of their songs cranked up on my new stereo (when it ever gets done).

Can't wait to hear how the concert was.

Beat ya to it. Well actually she did. haha
I'm working in the garage today and listening to pandora radio, her log in, I am listening to one of her stations..."Molly Hatchet Radio"

I think there is just one original band member left, but I could be wrong too.

That is pretty awesome...  have fun!
That's why I wasn't in a rush for that gasket this weekend Chris.  ;D

I haven't seen them but I know that the lead singer, Danny Joe Brown passed away a couple of years ago from a stroke. RIP Danny.

Real cool.  Have a great time with your daughter; just don't flirt with disaster at the concert.  lol

Have a great time, and I hope you enjoy the time with your daughter more than the actual concert.

I can't relate...to the music that is.  But the experience with your daughter should be priceless.   I was country when country wasn't cool.....  My boys don't share my taste in music... My Pandora stations include Don Williams radio, Chet Atkins radio, Johnny Cash radio among others...

Back in about 98 I took my mom to see George Carlin and in 2002 when we found out she had cancer my brother took her to see The Eagles.  Sadly we lost her in 03, the memories we have of doing things like that with her live on.  My mom Raised us on KISS, Zeppelin, and bands like that.  I remember seeing Alice Cooper with her sometime back in the 80s.  Only thing I remember about that one is the guillotine, but then again I was born in 77.  But anyhow you and your daughter will remember this for the rest of your lives.

So our plan is this: wing it! lol
We have to travel about an hour to get there. We are going to leave earlier than need be. Gonna find some place to eat other than fast food or a chain restaurant. If that doesn't work out then I figure we aren't very far from Blazin's and we could go see what he is having for supper!  ;D
Then go take in some of the best southern rock there ever was!!

I was told by her earlier that the only thing that could make this better was if I had my truck finished so we could take that to the concert!

Sounds like you have raised her right! Molly Hatchet has to be my favorite Southern Rock band my far. I remember being young and finding my dads old copy of their self titled album on vinyl. I about wore a hole through that thing. I'm not that old either, 21 to be exact. My favorite some to listen to while driving hads to be Dreams. Anyway sounds like you guys are going to have a blast. Have fun!

Well I talked to thirsty a bit ago and he and his daughter were having a bite to eat just down the street from where the concert was going to be.
About now they should be rockin the house.
He did mention that this is the first concert he's gone to...... sober. Ha Ha !!!!     :D

Cheers to you two. Hope you're having a great time.
Cant wait to hear about it.

Yup we texted earlier and he said he was about to leave. Wanted to know if I was going? Sadly I am not. Funds are tight this year, might only do one concert this summer.
