Project "BurnEm"
« on: February 25, 2012, 08:20:26 pm »
Just got it yesterday about 12am. Stayed up all night washin and waxin it to bring the color back. "See pics. Its an 82 lwb 1/2. Painted grey nice seats, dash, headliner, wheels, and tires. The engine is locked up probably from when it overheated. Its a 305 with a th350. My plan is to take out the current eng/trans combo and replace them with a 350 with a comp cams high energy cam 260 and another th350 or a 700r 4. Idk if the drive shaft lenght will work for the 700, but that's the trans id rather have because of o.d.

Looking good !!

I can relate. Working on a new vehicle into the wee hours of the morning.
Ahhhhh yes... the excitement of a new vehicle.

Although now that I'm almost 50, I get excited staying up till 10 oclock. Ha Ha !!!    ;D

Yep I had a couple beers and free time so why not make use of time and clean up the truck. Now here's my ???. this sticker states the truck came with a 4 speed auto. But by looking under the truck I can see its a th350. Should I go and get a 700r-4? I think one trans is shorter than the other if I'm correct.

look at the pan on the transmission and look where the shift module is. a 700r 4 trans has a square pan, the th350 trans has the shift module on the back and a th400 has the shift module on the side of the trans.

The trans pan is square with one corner that's a 45 degree angle

Well that looks like a great start to a build.  Hopefully you got it cheap enough with the seized engine.  I love to get trucks that way, they are cheap and really only need an engine if you are lucky.
