Spark plug wires with headers
« on: April 16, 2012, 06:31:57 am »
I am installing the Hedman shortys on a 350. My question is, which angle should I use on the spark plug boot?  I dont have the headers yet, and I want to order everything at once. I figure its either 45 degree or straight.

Thanks!

Keep the wires away from exhaust heat as much as possible.  Like Irish, I use 90* boots, and then insulate them with DEI 8" Nomex sleeves.

Ha, I learned the hard way that this for me is the best way to go.

I have dinged the primary pipes in on many pairs of headers to make room for plug wire boots.

I used 90's.

The is a plug wire by Accel I have used a couple of times. They call them Ferro-spiral 9000, the spark plug boot will withstand 1000 degree heat as close as 1/2.

They are not bulky, they are silver in color and look normal otherwise.

Most modern headers have no clearance issues with 90°s Nevertheless get a custom build set.
