2 inch DJM lowering shackles don't fit
« on: April 20, 2012, 08:06:48 PM »
I installed the DJM 2 inch lowering shackles on a 85 short bed 2wd. The top of the shackle hits the bed crossmember just above it and prevents it from moving. I called DJM and they said I will have to notch the crossmember.
Has anyone had better luck with a different brand?
Thanks!

I used Eibach and had to notch the bed cross-member as well.  I don't think there's anyway around it if you want to lower the rear and have good suspension travel.

To use a 2" drop shackle, your going to have to notch the bed rail. No other way around it. There just isn't room to get that much in a shackle without "making" room for it. Lorne

When I had them on my 74 it cleared the bed floor but I did not use DJM.

Yours was a Long Bed Vile,  Not an issue on longbeds.

My 74 long bed, I lowered with DJM 2". I cut the bedframe before I even put the shackle on due to recommendations on here, so I will never know if I had to cut it or not. Pretty quick to cut though if you have a wheel, 5-10 min maybe?

I had to notch the bed rail to clear Belltech shackles on my stepside.

Under-bed rail notch for clearance above shackle:

Image of the distance that the shackles rise above the top of the frame rails (directly under that notch):
