31in tires on a 2wd
« on: April 22, 2012, 07:28:15 pm »
Currently have stock 235/75R15, considering a set of 31x10.5x15's. Is there any issue with the front tires rubbing if the truck is at stock height? I know the backs have tons of room.

Also if anyone has pictures of a 2wd w/ 31's that would be cool to see how mine might look. its an '82 with a long box.

Even with 250k miles on half ton springs, they fit fine on 15x7 rally wheels.  Here's a pic of the front on a suburban.

Here's mine, not quite what you asked for. But mine is a 3/4 ton with 245/75r16 tires. Which if I did it right would be around 30X9.6-16. And stock ride height.

You can fit 32x11.50s without a problem, so 31's aren't any problem either

HEre's my 77 with 31's

i have a 1987 half ton 2wd scottsdale and 31's do NOT fit, even when i took the running boards off.  Look on your door that sticker probably says 225/75/r15 so getting a nice set of 235/75/r15 with 100% will look great and is even a hair bigger so you should be happy with that.

After reading this post i went out and bought 4 31's off a guy i knew and when i got home they didnt fit... Well they "fit" , but were way too big in the front. Not a good idea man.

That means your truck has something amuck.  Could be your springs are shot/broken, shocks, frame damage ect, but something is not right, they do indeed fit on a half ton.

1987ScottsdaleGuy:  Maybe the fromt springs are sagging or the suspensions off from front to back.  I put them on my 87, and it was the lightest duty truck you could get  and the lowest stock height, and 32's fit fine.  On that same 87, 33's up front only scrubbed when turning at an angle like fron a driveway going down hill to the roadway.  Normal flat driving, 33's fit alright.

Also, could be your fenders / cab are out of square from the frame.  I've seen that happen before.

I've got 31 x 10.50  Cooper Discoverer STT on 15x9" wheels and they fit fine on my '83 c10, and the drivers fender is still crumpled in from the front a bit from a wreck it was in prior to when I bought it.

My c20 clears 285/75/r16 (32.8 x 11.2) with no rubs or problems. Even offroad. Allthough the taller tires make my front suspension bottom out on bumpstops over washboard terrain. And my suburban clears 315/75\r16's (34.6 x 12.4) with a 4 inch lift with no rubs or problems even when fully flexed.

Looks like the fronts raised a bit from stock height?
