OK guys this one is ugly
« on: April 27, 2012, 08:36:22 pm »
I'll start off by saying this.some of you might frown on me because i switched my old 77 cab,to This 76 cab...The 77 it had rust on the floor, rocker panels, and a big dent on the cab corner, and i put 74 doors on the 77 and Stupid me slammed them (out of frustration :( dented all around the doors, didn't fit right) So i bout a 76 cab and doors for $50,that's a good deal because the Doors have like 0 rust,Al tho the 76 cab has bad rust I'll show pics now... Very ugly yeah not perdy...Do you guys this if i cut that out i could weld in a different cab piece ...If any of you are wondering about the 82 C10 in the back Its my bros ill post picks in members rides if ya want

Oh no.  Rockers, floor, cab corners--all standard fare repairs for these trucks.  What you've got there is scrap metal.

I am going to have to agree with jaredts here, from what you described and from the pics, the other cab would have been fixable, this is going to need a donor cab just for the parts to replace.  Unless of course you are going to leave it that way and just use the truck for a truck.

Possible to fix, but probably lots of work.

I had a 1984 Toyota truck that the previous owner had cut and swapped the top half of the cab with another truck.  For being done in a driveway, it turned out fairly decent but you could still tell it was done from the inside.  But the doors fit and closed nicely and the windows all fit properly.

I think his reasoning was a rusty windshield frame on one cab and the other cab had a floor that was rotted out.

Floor pans, cab corners, rockers are cheap and easy to repair (relatively) the roof and pillar area that you have are rotted through so it's not just a skin, it's structural and although it can be done I would look for a better cab.

i would fix the old cab and not the 76 cab personally.  I don't know how to weld myself so a buddy of mine is fixing the drivers side floorboard and replacing the rockers in mine.  Capt. sells them all in the site store and they are good quality.

The pictures of the floor, cab corner, and rocker are not that bad.  Got any pics of the other cab, or do you still have it?

I don't want to seem offensive, but I believe I would find a cab better than the one pic here. If I was aiming on spending alot of time & money in this truck anyways.

Cody, I need a bit of clarification here to give my best advice. Do you have Two cabs basically the same color? The cab you showed with the roof rot...Is the rest of the cab nice (rockers, corners, floor, ect.) or is those pictures all of the same cab? Lorne

The original cab you have, (the one you did not show pics of, but described), as everyone is stating, the repair pieces are cheap and can be fixed to make it look like new.  The cab (the one in the pics) needs (as Vile said) structural repair and to be done right will need 3 or 4 times the amount of work, and at least that much more experience to make it come out right and safe.
While the other cab is off, as everyone has stated, fix that cab and put back on the truck, and in the mean time if you need you can drive the truck with the other cab on it.

My 80 needs a floor, inner rockers and outters, cab corners, kick panels and cab supports and floor cab supports and my cowl is rusted all across my firewall. So the cab needs rebuilt of course and I need to replace the firewall and patch the cowl so I will be replacing that to.  Also my pilers are rusted and my rear piler as well but not that bad... But the rest of the cab is soild lol.  I believe anything can be done with a little bit of time and patience...
