steering wheel nut?

anybody knows what size the steering wheel mounting nut is?

asking because it's sure bigger than the hugest socket i have right now, but i don't want to spend much time or money to go out and play trial-error...

should be around 22mm...

     I believe that there was a post a while ago where this question was asked, If memory serves me right I believe Zieg85 had the answer, could be wrong, but would not hurt to pm him and ask.

May be that GM's older 80 and under used the 7/8".  I will check the 73-76 column in my shed and report.

i'll try 13/16, sounds more or less what i thought and was able to measure (difficult place to do that)...

If you've got a set of Spark Plug sockets (not just the 5/8ths our GM uses), you have a 13/16th.  Just so you don't have to buy another

Pick up all the sockets above where your set stops.  3/4 is usually as high as they go.  13/16, 7/8, 15/16, 1.  if you get those 4 sizes you'll be all set for a long time.

thanks again guys, 13/16" it was, and i had it  dang metric mind, wouldn't have thought that this is the 20.8mm spark plug size hehe.

anyways a good idea to get a set of huger sockets, thing is i'm piggy and stick with craftsman where possible, so it always hurts the wallet to go shopping for tools...

absolutely right, leave her alone with that and she'll leave you alone with your stuff...

but back to the topic: what i had to do is change the horn contact, succesfully done (plastic thingy was broken. now i don't get it back together 100%, the spring that is in there is quite strong and there's no chance i get it compressed to put that lock ring/spring over there. anybody got an idea of an alternative method to the special tool that you need to get this back together?

     We just say that each of us (husband's and wife's) understands each of these obsessions, but that is a lie we both tell ourselves to make us feel better.  You know deep down you still question under your breath the reason for 5 pairs of the exact same shoes, while in your mind you justify having 6 point sockets and 12 point sockets, crows feet and 2 sets of wrenches in standard and metric.
      Duplicates and triplets in some cases of the same tools "because you use them or might need them.
