ICM and pickup coil diagnosis?
« on: October 04, 2012, 09:11:22 pm »
87 TBI

i have spark at the coil and at the end of plug wires (confirmed with spark tester)
if either the ignition control module or pickup coil are bad wouldn't this yield a no spark at all condition?

i keep reading conflicting info on this

Man you have threads all over. I'm having a hard time trying to figure out what you need help with. You'd best to start one thread with what's going on. So what is going on?

your right

i originally started the thread in electrical as "help diagnosing 87 tbi fuel pump problem" thinking my no start issue was fuel pump related, but after messing around with that thought it might be engine related so i posted another thread under engine as "87 tbi starting problems"

all the other misc posts were just posts asking for advice on individual components and tools all relating to the same crank but no start issue.

I'll regroup and continue with the one thread in engine/drive-train category as 87 tbi starting problems
that has the history  along with my most recent findings.

thanks
