Nice work.  I am not a fan of overlap welds but the way you finished it off looks real good.  In fact, better than a body shop that did a similar repair on an old Ford Torino I had.

"Plug welded them to the outside panel, and rivited them to what was left of the inner wheel arch."  Blazin, what type of rivit did you use?  Those flush rivits?  And where did you get them - an autobody supply store?  Online store?

Thx.

It wasn't a restoration job so an overlap weld is fine for a repair such as this. Its only over lapped about an 1/8 of an inch across the top, and a heavy 1/4 down the sides.
Just use a regular blind rivet with my air rivet gun. Can't see them no need for anything special. I use 3/16" shaft, and grip range around a 1/4". This job I used the larger head, about 1/2" to 5/8" across the head of the rivet.
Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs
