Hope everyone had a good
« on: November 22, 2012, 11:27:42 pm »
Thanksgiving. I did about 50 miles on the bike, and had a nice lunch / dinner with my mother, one of my sisters, and brother in law. Stopped and visited two friends on the way home, then hung out at my next door neighbors house and watched the Patriots whoop the Jets.

Same to you. I deep fried a turkey at my Mothers house. She made one in the oven and we had about 20 people there. Tons of food!

25 of our family met at the Cracker Barrel for the 2nd year in a row.  I had breakfast.  The wait was to long so we are gonna find some place that takes reservations next year...

With the size of family we have a lot of opportunity for home cooking get togethers.  Rather than burden one family to host, thus a big mess, it was just easier to let someone else do the cooking.  Our house and my wife's sisters is the only 2 houses big enough for an indoor gathering and then tables are set up everywhere...  Christmas is the next biggie, that is a good 45+ and food galore.  Last night we nixed the family gift exchange because most will be barely able to provide for our own family let alone buy for others...

Your day sounds like it was fun!  I grew up enjoying large family gatherings every year with more good things to eat than should be legal!  We'd visit, play games, and there was always a ball game on the tube.  This year, I spent the entire day with my oldest brother - had a long, wonderful visit and a succulent turkey dinner!!  Talked about everything from childhood, to movies, to camping trips, politics and the future....

Same to you. I deep fried a turkey at my Mothers house. She made one in the oven and we had about 20 people there. Tons of food!

That deep fried turkey sounds mighty delicious!!

Hope everyone had a great time.  Personally I could not wait to get out of Ca for thanksgiving.  Wife and I are in Portland, Oregon visiting her brothers family.

Portland is beautiful, but it has to be chilly compared to Sac!  There are a lot of people who would like to escape California right now....  Glad you enjoyed a joyous occasion with Family!

Families need to look out for each other and pull closer together in these times.  It's good that we all have the opportunity to do so!  Hope everyone enjoyed themselves and went home stuffed!

    HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL!!

That is what we did, drew names and bought for an entire family.  What it seemed was a gift card exchange and even at the $30 limit some of the siblings could not spare the extra, some couldn't even come to Cracker Barrel because of the extra expense.  They say the economy is improving but I am sorry, I don't see it.  The cost of everything is going up faster than the wages are so everyone is going backwards every year.  Those who live paycheck to paycheck are finding it harder to make ends meet....
