Dana 44 front driveshaft yoke
« on: January 08, 2013, 02:54:31 pm »
my front drive shaft yoke is worn out really bad and then putting the lift kit in didn't help matters, just made them worse. where is a good place to get a new yoke? my drive shaft right now clicks and rattles like crazy when im driving with the front end engaged.

The yoke on the axle is worn? I would think it is available new from GM, any driveshaft builder in your area, or Randy's Ring, and Pinion.
Not sure how that yoke would make the drive shaft click and rattle though. Sounds to me like your shaft needs to be rebuilt. Any drive shaft builder can do that for a couple hundred bucks. Had mine done in Yellow Snow for I think it was $213.00 parts, and labor. Rebuilt the cardan joint, and installed a new splined end, balanced it, and a slip yoke, with new joint.

I agree with Blazin, and this will be the best in the long run.

got one from the junk yard that was a couple inches longer than my stock one. the yard one was still tight in the splines,  rebuilt the cardan joint. years later its still good with no problems

Splines! be wary of worn splines they actually can "jump" if worn enough and putting the lift in and "stretching" the shaft a little will make it worse.Actually had the splines wear out on my last front driveshaft and my initial thought was the noise was coming from the transfercase.

No disrespect Blazin, you always give great advise and helpful info.
It's just that Pholliday seems more of a newbie to the site and have read several post from him with very helpful info and his experience , a good member on the forum.
