blinker question
« on: March 23, 2013, 03:09:16 pm »
hello..

My blinkers have done goofy things since I bought the my 1983 c10 a few months ago.  both blinker worked sometimes but the funny thing is when they were blinking, it would get stuck and stop blinking but just light up a solid color.  it would do this with the right and left blinker, blink normally and then stop blinking yet stay lighted up.  I just lived with it.  finally today it just stopped blinking all together.  but when you put the blinker on either left or right, it stays illuminated but does not blink on or off.  I thought maby this was chevy's way of saying i have some bulbs blown out.  I know newer trucks like my 95 it will blink rappidly.  I changed all bulbs on both tailights that were out and they are working now but still no blinking light.  I'm sure something has gone out with the truck's old age.  Any suggestions as to what is causing this malfunction?

Have you tried swapping out the turn signal flasher? It's on the fuse panel.

Fuse panel is behind the dash against the firewall, all the way to the left.  It's easily seen and obvious.  There are two flashers; one for turn, one for hazard lights.  Try swapping them.  The symptoms will follow the bad flasher.
