So it's probably safe to say that everyone on here is a chevy/ gm fan including myself. I am thinking of getting an old 63 f250 to restore and sell as a working mans truck. I figured this would be a good place for input. It seems like a solid truck, has 292 v8 2wd undermount a/c and manual transmision. Was thinking I would change out all fluids tune up. Make it mechanically sound.  Bed line the bed, floorboards, and skirt around the outside. Also want to do an undercoating. All trim, grill, badges, light bezels are intact. Is there a market for what I want to do?

There is always a market for older Fords as there is GM and Dodges.  My suggestion is find a forum that specializes in them to judge their worth.  Always good to practice on something else then apply the learned skills to your first love.  Just don't dump a lot of money into thinking you are going to make money at it.  The following will be slim but there are people out there who really like the older stuff.

imo in order to make money or break even. if you do all this work your time/money into the project will be more than anyone who would use it as a work truck. you want to do as little as you can to make the truck a better truck. so if you want to flip it you would almost have to skip the little things that add up. if you want to do a resto and sell that you would find a buyer who will appreciate the truck. but just to sell it as a work truck with some add ons, thats not a big sale but again this is just my opinion. it almost sounds like your list of things to do could cost 1k so add that on to what your pay for it plus your time then add some on for profit and see where that puts you at

     Irish is right about putting a lot of money into a 63 ford for a work truck.  On the other hand though, if you wanted to make it shine without spending a lot of money, you could make a profit in my opinion.
     A 63 ford has nice lines and with a nice paint job and looking good could sell for a good price.

The first pickup I ever had is a 1964 Ford F-100, which I still have.

My opinion on the project: 
If the pickup is in really good shape, never restored or changed since the 60's (i.e., a survivor) there is a market for just that sort of truck. It's only original once and there are a lot of people that desire original.

Once things start to change, like undercoating or bed lining or whatever, it will affect which customers it attracts.  Put money into things that will get it operating dependably like points, rotor, fuel pump, brakes etc.

Why would you do something like that? You'd be wasting money and you will devalue the truck. Do not try to hide anything with undercoating or bedliner.

i agree... just clean up the truck... clean it from the inside... wash it, wax it.. and give the engine a tune up.. do it in a weekend sell it by monday... that quick cash... think what a car dealer would do? besides sending it to the crusher... lol

I didn't get the truck.  I was thinking of the bed liner as a rust preventative measure. Clean up any flaking paint. Bondo any miner imperfections. Bedliner a skirt along maybe the bottom 12" all the way around. I would remove the seat, clean/ prep the floorboard, and spray the interior with bedliner as well. This would stop all rust in the common areas indefinitely You could basically be able to hose out the interior. I wound wire wheel and spray can prime any surface rust before the bedliner was applied. It makes sense that leaving everything original would appeal to a larger market, but I'm thinking that market would want to have vehicle professionally restored to show quality. I'm thinking of spending around $3-3500 for truck and all work. Hope to get around $5-8000.
