Power window switch wiring - Where do I find some?!?!?
« on: July 08, 2013, 05:12:34 pm »
I am taking apart the doors to rebuild them (window motors, switches, door lock actuators, vent windows, weatherstripping, hinges).  The problem is that I lost the backing piece to my driver's side window switch wiring plug.  It is the one with 6 wires and it is flat and plugs on to the window switch.  Where can I find good ones?  I can't find any in salvage pickups around here.
Were they the same in some GM cars?  My wires are falling out of it and has caused some sparks.  Unfortunately, I am still driving this thing while working on it.  Sure makes it difficult to get much done.

ACDelco PT188 or PT546 available through your local ACDelco retailer.

Oh yeah. Does anyone know why there is one post on the switch that is so much longer and sticks through the plug

I believe the two connectors pictured are interchangeable, but the PT546 (white connector) may be slightly thinner(?).

The long post is for a retainer that binds the connector to the switch.  In my experience, the retainer is unnecessary since terminal tension is sufficient to retain the connector.

Thanks. I took my old one out (actually fell off in my hand) and it is the white one.
Do you have the numbers for the lock switch plug and passenger window switch plug also?  I have looked for these parts by application and had not found the ac delco stuff, but knowing the part number they are easily found. Thanks again.

classic industries, but parts stores should be able to get it quickly also.  I know oreillys does nightly truck shipments to their stores  if one is close to you.
