So I have been undercoating my truck lately and I had a bit of a lazy day yesterday so I decided to clean up the sill section under my hood where the hood latch is (not sure the actual name for that area). It had a lot of surface rust. So I first took some Marine Clean, a degreaser from POR15 to it. Then I quickly realized it was running down the front of the truck on the painted area of the body just behind the front bumper (again not sure if that area has a name or not). My paint is in pretty good shape overall, still very shiny. But this Marine clean turned it very dull very quickly and the paint started to "pill" a bit. I tried to wash it up but it just removed the paint in sections down to the primer. None to happy

It really is a small area, just that small "bumperette" behind my chrome front bumper, so I might spring and have it repainted. Funny thing is, Marine Clean on the bottle says you can use it on painted surfaces. I am here to tell you DON'T. In fact it might work really good as a paint remover.
So I might swing by and ask my local body guy for an estimate and pray it is not too much. On the topic of paint, the only complaints I have about my paint job are the striped tape used to separate the silver and black in my two tone paint job) silver is the top half and black the bottom. The tape is peeling away in sections. Is that something easily done by a body shop or will it require significant work to correct?
