Well.....you snooze you lose!
« on: October 22, 2013, 02:13:03 pm »
Been watching an 85 shortbed in mint condition, no rust beauty.  Trying to save the scratch, guy was asking $6k. A high price but never seen a shortbed as clean as his.

Called on it today and it is gone!!

How hard is it to find a 79-87 K10 or 20 with no rust or dents unaltered?

Or even a CUCV in decent shape.

So depressed right now. :'(

Bummer, just chalk it up to it wasn't meant to be.  Clean trucks are hard to find where I am located however they do come up from time to time.  I just saw a real nice looking 2 wheel drive shortbed on Craigslist.  Just keep saving, the right one will come along at the right time...

How hard is it really to cut out the rust and rot in cab corners and weld new patch panels?

I have always wondered this.

I do not have any body work knowledge or experience.

not hard if you know what you are doing I guess.  There are plenty of how-to video's that tackle the tasks but by the time you pay for the equipment to do it yourself you may be better off buying a turn key truck unless you have a lot of patience... Me, not so much...

$6000 should buy you a nice clean CUCV.
Hang in there, you will find another one.
When you do, give it a thorough inspection. If it's a good truck, buy it quickly.

no its not a lot, but you could buy a truck and get her straight for 6k. it just depends on what condition your truck is in. then you could say "yeah i built it"

i wouldn't worry too much---you'll find another.

What i think is hard is to find is a C-20 w/ no rust and unaltered.

Well, i would prefer both rust free and unaltered, but i'd say rust free because you can always change back to stock.
