76 SWB Custom Deluxe rebuild
« on: December 20, 2013, 01:56:39 pm »
Ok all here we go, I have been sitting back quietly for a while, and now I decided i would do a build thread or atleast try. This is gonna be slow going so please bear with me. I bought this truck over a year ago and now have decided to tear into her. I already started on it so i will post pics and get it up to where she currently sits.

Ok lastly i know have everything completely removed from the frame. I have also removed the engine crossmember as well as the transmission crossmember for when i go to clean up the frame. Sorry for lack of pics and details up to this point but if you wanna see anything let me know and i will scour through all my photos and see if i cant find it as i have a ton of pics not loaded. Ignore the doll bed on the frame. Christmas gotta love it although the frame did make a good make shift work bench since mine is now buried in truck parts.

Well now that we are all caught up my next plan is to get a hold of a sandblaster and get this frame stripped down to bare metal.
Amazingly the frame is in beautiful condition no rust hardly what so ever and I live in good ole Illinois. I used some cheap dollar store oven cleaner and power washed the frame and that took all the grease, mud, and whatever else off even some of the paint. Too bad it didn't take all the paint off could of saved me some serious elbow grease ;D.

Ok got back to work on the truck the last couple days. Made a homemade and slightly scary rotisserie so that I could flip my frame by myself and not have to wait on someone to help. Will post some pics when I get a chance. Should make blasting and painting frame much easier.

Looks like it is coming along, though if you are hesitant about your own rotisserie, I have to see some pics.
