Converting from AC to Non-AC ??

Hi,
1986 C-10 Silverado. Came with AC, but compressor locked up and holes in evaporator and condenser coil, so took it all off.  All hoses, electrical, etc, have been removed.  All, but the evaporator coil.  Should I mess with it or leave it in there?  I took the little thermal resistor speed control thingy out that controls the blower motor speed and looked at the evaporator coil and it's pretty clean.  If I took the coil out, I'd still be stuck with this big bulge looking thing which I really don't like.  Is there any way to remove this altogether and purchase some sort of aftermarket assembly that hooks the output of the blower into the interior ductwork?  Perhaps a junkyard find?  Or should I just leave it alone?

My ac was shot when I got my truck a year ago. I don't have any pics but I bought the evaporator eliminator from classic industries for about $150 bucks. It does clean up the engine bay a bit but it is made of fiberglass.

I am also interested in this. Do you have a part number for the eliminator kit Hinkv10? I'm having trouble finding it.

I found it at classic industries but there website sucks. Type in your make and year and go to the ac/heat section. Don't use the search feature, u won't find it. It's part number 14446.

I am guessing you want to keep the heater in there....

Thanks for the replies and info.  I took the evaporator coil out and giving the blower and heater a good clean up.  I'll check that web site.

If I found a similar model at the junkyard that came from the factory WITHOUT A/C, will that blower housing and fiberglass duct and all fit and bolt up to the same spot that mine did with the factory A/C coil?  I am guessing the firewall and blower mounting positions would all be the same, the difference would only be that blower housing.  See pic.

Firewall is completely different, you will have some patchwork to do
