Big Hello to to all our Old Truck Brothers and Sisters

Howdy 73-87 Chevy Trucks Brothers and Sisters,
Glad we found this site, it's really cool to see a bunch of great folks that love, appreciate or tolerate the fine vintage American Iron trucks as much as we do. When I say "we" I mean my wife (she's a new member too, "Harleygirl"). We have been married for 31 years...exactly...today's our anniversary. Ya see, Old trucks actually had a lot to do with our getting together...we met in a four-wheel-drive club! When I first saw her, a tall redhead driving a huge GMC 4 x 4 lifted 6" and running on 36" Kelly tires and sporting that big Warn winch on the front...I knew that was a girl that I just had to get to know.
We didn't "date" like most young people do...we went on off-road trips. To the desert, the High Sierras, the dunes at Dumont, Pismo, and some of the most beautiful camping spots imaginable. I ended up proposing marriage to her while sitting on the tailgate of "Old Grumpy", the '77 Chevy 3/4ton 4 x 4 ya see in my avatar.
After we wed, her GMC made way for a Blazer...more seats...as our two became three, four, and eventually five. Old Grumpy remained our heacy work truck, a role he still fills today.
The old, tired Blazer eventyally became kinda empty after all the kids grew up (our youngest, Clayton, is serving in the ARMY, he's a Specialist statined in Georgia) so Harleygirl returned to her 4 x 4 roots and found a local '79 shortbed that badly needed some TLC. That fine truck is "Cinnamon Girl", our pride-and-joy. She (the truck I mean) sports a 468 big-block we built in our garage, with Edelbrock aluminum heads, Performer RPM manifold and cam, Doug Thorley tri-y headers and 2 1/2" dual exhaust that exits thru a pair of big 'ol Supertrapp mufflers. What an amazing rumble that truck has! And talk about fun to drive...we swapped the stock Turbo 350 auto trans for the Granny 4 - speed and fed it thru a Centerforce three clutch to a beefed up diff with an Aulburn locker.
Old Grumpy has seen plenty of changes in the decades i have lived with him, The utility body came as a result of the stock bed being t-boned by a Suburban. "Grumpy has a 468 big block too, and a very similar build as Cinnamon Girl except for a more aggressive Engel Racing cam...hence the name "Old Grumpy". The granny 4-speed is fed by a Centerforce two clutch, and the 1 1/2ton drive shafts turn a Detroit Locker out back. The 36" Parnelli Jones Dirt Grips are load-rated "E" to support Grumpy's 7000 pound empty weight...and usually a whole lot more when loaded with wood, metal, or the 250 gallon transfer tank we use around the ranch.
So, there we are...my wife and I are enjoying life doing kinda the same things we we doing 30-plus years ago...stuck in a rut i guess...but the way i see it, it's a mighty fine rut to be stuck in...

welcome from Maryland. there's a couple ways to upload pictures, the one i use is photobucket. i use them cause it wont matter what the size of the picture is and you can edit it from there also

Hey Chevy Truck Brothers and Sisters,

Gonna try again to figure out how to post pics...if this doesn't work i will go back and re-read the threads on posting photos. My screen looked different that the one in the photo thread, there isn't any "Additional Options" or a "Browse" button to add the file. Sadly, i can handle a torque wrench far better than a computer... :o

to get the pictures large on the page instead of an attachment, right below the bold icon is the image icon, click that and it give you this

place your image URL in between the two and you get this
