91 burb wiring harness in 82 c10
« on: March 07, 2014, 09:16:43 pm »
Hey guys I have an 82 c10 and I wanted to swap the steering column and wiring from my 91 parts burb. Where I got confused was with the electronic speedo. I run a th350 but I'm not opposed to swapping trannys in fact I'd prefer it I just don't know if I want to right now. I planned to use all of the wiring and just remove the extra suburban stuff that I wouldn't need such as rear heat etc. My question is this, besides the speedo what else is different from say an 87? And what options do I have for a speedo besides swapping trannys? I'm taking the windshield wiper motor, heat/ac control and whatever else I need to. I'm very familiar with 81-87 but haven't played with anything after that. I'm swapping a tbi motor into the 82 and running a carb setup so I don't need the efi stuff but I want to keep the cruise and it'd be easiest to match up the column and everything else if possible. Any insight with this or anything else that I might not be realizing would be greatly appreciated

You could swap the cluster with it or just use what is in the TH350.  The Signal from the 1991 is only used for the ECM and speedo.

Like Capt said you can still just run your manual speedo cable as long as you keep the manual speedo.
