dont worry about it. but its labeled "R" for ignition and it give a coil a full 12v while cranking. with points style ignition there is a resistor limiting the amount of volts to the coil. the "R" post will bypass the resistor and give the coil a full 12v at start up for a easier start up. this is for the old points style ignition

So I am assuming that in the 3rd pic, where you have the red and black circle on, the yellow sheathed wire is actually the "s" wire that actually energizes your starter.
