« on: March 13, 2014, 10:41:34 am »
well i now got 3 trucks. my 87 v10, my 86 k20 i picked up for $1050 last month, and the 87 r10 that i picked up a few weeks ago for $500. Well two nights ago i was drivin home from the ex gals house in the 87 r10 that im using as my daily and everything was working perfect and completely right.... well yesterday morning I get in the truck to head to school and the turn signals dont work whatsoever... doesnt matter which way I flick it.. everything else works except the turn signals (well i dont know about the hazards cuz i for got to check em, but putting the stick up or down does absolutely nothin... there is no turn lights goin on, clicking, blinking or anything happening when i move it.... needless to say im a little angry............ i already checked the fuse and it aint blown, and also put new flasher on, and also swapped between the 4 way flasher and all that and does absolutely nothing...... what could it be???????????

The switching mechanism inside the steering column might be worn out.  You can remove the steering wheel and rent a removal tool from O'Reilly or Autozone to get the metal sproket underneath off and inspect it.

How-To: Fixing a Sloppy GM Tilt Column is an illustrated tear down of the upper column.  Whether you have tilt or not, the process is the same down to replacing the turn switch.

Before you tear the column apart, check the operation of the 4-way flashers.  If the hazard flashers don't work either, make sure that the turn switch isn't just unplugged under the dash.

That is the way to go, no need to do all that work if it is something simple.

Replace the turn switch....

Or, you can try washing the contacts with some electronics tuner cleaner that contains lubricant.  Either way, tear down will be almost the same.  The outcome with tuner cleaner will be hit-and-miss.
