« on: March 19, 2014, 05:37:39 pm »
I have a 85 k10. I didnt hear anything until i put a lift on the truck. It is making a knocking only when i 4x4. you can only hear it when sitting in the cab. cant hear it from outside the truck. there is only maybe 1/2 inch between the front drive shaft and the transfer case skid plate. i can only hear it every once in awhile sometimes its wore then others.

Check your front drive shaft for starters. Make sure all the u-joints are good and also the splines on the slip joint.
How much lift did you put on the truck? You may need a longer drive shaft. In either case you have changed the angle that the shaft is accustomed to and it may be showing it's age.

my 84 does this, i havnt really looked at it but it almost sound like the t-case is hitting the floor. could be a bad motor or transmission mount

I would look at both of these closely.  Also does it make the noise all the time in 4x4, or like when you are flexing the suspension ?  The more detail you can give us the better the answer's will be.

mine is when you hit a bump. in 4wd, dont think it does it when you get on it (didnt do it at the truck pull)
