this is for my 84 cummins, so i found a 4l80e 4x4 trans out of a 99 6.5 td. Supposed to be better than a gasser cause of the lower stall. it can bolt to a np205 with a long input shaft with a th400 adapter with some machine work. so i have that part figured out, now im just trying to save some money. i can prob get a tcu for 500 this includes the tps have to figure out Output Shaft speed, Tachometer signal. a guy from tci said my speed sensor for my digital dash should work for the output shaft sensor. and its bolted to a np205 now so thats figured out.
next up is the tack. and as we know the diesels have no spark plugs or distributor, you can use the "w" post on the alt but as luck has it i have no "w", but i just found out you can use the "r" terminal for this(can anyone confirm this?)
as it looks the digital dash will save me on a couple things. just have to pull it out of my 79 mud truck. or might be looking to buy a new one
but my main question is... has anyone heard or made a stock ecm (out of the 1999 6.5) work like a standalone computer. i would think with the tps, rpm and speed i should be able to fool the computer but i dont want to set off any bad cels to make the trans go into limp mode

just trying to save some money. but i did find one and a tps for 500, and a 93 6.5 with a 4l80e the 91,92 and 93 diesels use standalone computers. that guy wants 125 for the tcu and wire harness.
the problem is they are 4 hrs away in va but i have a uncle that lives about a hour away and i have a vacation week coming up so i might have to go visit him and pick both tcus' up just because i think i might want to do this again and even if i use the 93 tcu i need a tps so thats 150 ill just take that out of the $500 deal for the time being
