Tachometer Grommet Firewall Picture

Hi,

I have a 1982 silverado with factory gauges and the large gas gauge to the right of the speedometer.  Recently I scored a factory gauge cluster with tachometer and wiring harness from a 1981 at my local pick a part.

Being a bonehead, I did not take a picture of the firewall where I removed the grommet that transitions the firewall to the interior.

Would any of you please post a photo of the under hood grommet location on your firewall?

I know it is plug and play and it has been mechanically refurbished at a local speedo shop.

There is a big bundle of wires that pass through a grommet,  your tach wire should go through the same one.

The factory harness has a white lead with an affixed grommet that transitions the firewall, connects to a condenser mounted to the exterior of the firewall then proceeds to the tach terminal of the distributor. 

This is not one or more wires, it is a factory dedicated single wire attached to the grommet.  Know anyone with a 73-87 w/ factory tach?

Must be the tach signal filter you are talking about.  Sounds like you know know more than me,  so I can't be any help.  Sorry.

This is on my 1980. Its the white wire @ 4 o'clock from the bulkhead connection. There are dimples in the firewall for locations. The tac wire is a single wire with a gromet molded on.
