Another quick question....

Since this is full time 4x4 are there any pros or cons to adding manual lock outs and running in the free position or is that even possible?

IIRC, you will need to run the t/case in Loc position for it to move then.  they have a kit that has the lockouts and part/s that go into the t/case so you can drive without the front drive assembly turning.  manual hubs alone will not do this.

Don't worry about being new to this stuff.  I joined the site after I bought my truck a couple years ago, and am a novice wrencher at best!  The guys on here are very supportive and knowledgeable.  I've posted some pretty elementary questions and have never gotten even the slightest demeaning or annoyed sounding response.

Ahh......ok. Thanks for the info. I will check into that.  I think the OP's dad has a different trans and transfer case but I'm not sure if he will let it go? Any idea how much my current setup is worth? I may sell it in order to buy the other setup.

     Most of these were converted to non-full time awhile ago.  If yours is still full time I would suggest getting the kit and putting it in, it will save you a lot of money in gas alone.
     So in anticipation of your next question, check out this thread over on CK5 website on the part time kit for the NP203.

Thanks for the link bake. Great information. I was also surprised on how inexpensive the kit's are. It looks to me that the 501 and 502 kits are the same with exception to the 502 coming with lockouts. Shouldn't be too bad of a job being the trans and t-case are out of the truck. I just hope that I can figure it out...LOL

Just ordered the conversion kit. Looks like its shipping out of Ohio so with a little luck I may have it for this weekend. Won't be able to paint the frame anyway so at least I'll have something to do.

Well....didn't really accomplish much on the truck this weekend. Had to work longer than expected. I was able to remove all of the old brake lines and clean the headers up. Now I just need to paint them.  On a positive note the conversion kit came in so hopefully I can work on that next weekend.

Question:
     I was going over things while removing the brake lines and notice two of the mounts (frame side) need a little attention. Drivers side core support and rear cab mount. Does anyone out there make an aftermarket replacement or should I hit up the local junk yards or is it possible to weld a plate over the area in question?

     I am assuming you mean the metal tab (that is welded to truck frame)  that the mount sits in correct ?  If that is correct I have not run across aftermarket ones yet, I think your best bet is from a donor truck.

Yes bake, I wasn't sure what the correct term was. I would consider them a bracket or nest where the body mount/bushings sits.

Was finally able to get the chassis saver put on. Geez what mess that stuff is..lol I'll try and post up some pics and an update this weekend.

you  can just put a large washer on top if the rust is just on top and doesn't go downthe side
