I also think I would be buying cans of 106 Octane boost by the case. ;D ;D ;D Just a thought.. BTW-I can't wait to see a video of this thing idling out in your driveway!
It's been a LONG time since I have been called a newbie. Just sayin....

Lol yeah after the piston rings seat and motor breaks in really well i may seriously pick up a case and make a few tank fuels of it.... Kinda freaks me out thinking of that though,, this thing is going to have ENOUGH power already as it is! Lol  I can't wait to have it idling out of the driveway too... I'm so looking forward to it! Don't know when that will be though.......  I need fuel lines, coolant hoses, fuel tank flushed out, fuel tank hoses, driveshafts rebuilt, etc etc,,,, soooo..... I have no earthly idea when this truck will be driving down the road,,,,, I just got back from a week elk bow hunting trip with my dad, good times for sure.... Exhausted and relaxing with my family now

And finally.......the engine is getting put in next week, I will be putting some long hours in next week squaring the engine away, installing it, mounting the dog house, new radiator with dual fans , among other things, breaking the engine in without breaking it haha and changing fluids ,,, then tuning it, then bolting down everything else, here soon will get the driveshafts rebuilt,,,, replace brakes and bearings , seals in both axles, then fluids for the entire truck, then off she goes to home finally ! I will mount the bed on here at the house once it arrives... Then fix the driveshafts.... Then finally be driving it

That happens to everyone when they first start their engine. There is always a little doubt. Having said that, here is what happened to me one time.

I just put the engine together, installed it and started it. I had been down to the local parts store buying parts for it so the guys knew I was close to being done. I went in the store on the afternoon right before I started the engine to buy a new thermostat. The guy that sold it to me wanted to come up and watch. I gave him directions and he shows up. I start the engine, run it up to 2000 RPM and note the time. I was going to let it run for 30 minutes to break it in. About 5 or 10 minutes in the headers start to smoke and turn color. Hmm. I go back and look inside at the temp gage. It was over 220 degrees. :o The thermostat was stuck shut! I turned the engine off. The guy says to me " Come in tomorrow and I will replace it". ;D Yeah I was not happy but what can you do? ::)

Moral of the story is this. After you set the idle speed up, get back in the truck and watch the gages! :) Now this is a prime example of the luck that I have had.

You would really have a long good laugh at my expense if I told you some of the things that happened to me when I drove the truck every day to work. WTH- I will tell you guys so you can laugh.
Ignition module breaks (twice). First time in the middle of the night on a bridge! :o I did not have a spare but the second time I did. I strongly suggest you have a spare one in the glove box! ;D
Accelerator cable breaks while on a first date with a girl-who has that happen to them? There was no second date as I figured my truck hated her. It was protesting. ;D
I was at the parts store and the same guy is outside. He asks me to crank the truck up . So I crank the truck up. The seal in the back of the water pump blows out and starts to dump about a gallon of green antifreeze on the parking lot. :o I jump in and drive it home right then. Luckily I lived close enough that it did not overheat. I go back to get another pump and they give me 3 containers of antifreeze free. Who has that happen to them?
Brake line breaks during a snowstorm which is classified as a level 2 emergency. Again -on a date with a girl and 25 miles from home back up on a very tall ridge. Talk about exciting. Try driving in that. Yeah that relationship didn't last long either. ;D
It got to the point that I figured that if I went out on a date, I could plan on working on the truck the next day. I ended up marrying the one girl that the truck did not break down on. ;D Here is the kicker though. She told me that after we got married she never rode in the truck again because I parked it. Now my son is wanting to drive it. I can't wait until it is fixed up and he starts dating in it. I bet it will be some good stories and a couple of late night phone calls about the truck breaking down! ;D OK so much for the free entertainment I am done. Feel free to laugh with me because I am laughing right now. I wasn't back then but I am now. :) Yeah I love the good old days.......

So it's a 78 k10 4x4 Had a small block 305 in it.... Putting a big block 454 in it. Running into a big problem. The motor mounts on a big block are just a hair too big and stretch past the bolt holes... The small block motor mounts line right up. Only problem is that the brackets I would need I don't have... Someone help me out here,,, I need brackets that will work with this big block... It's a 73 high performance passenger car engine big block. I need to get this motor in ASAP .... Please tell me exactly what to do here... I'm stuck on this...
