Steering Noise

1974 2wd, 350, no A.C.  I've notice a rubbing noise when I turn the steering wheel to the right.  The noise happens while sitting still and while driving.  Very consistent tempo almost like a pulley rubbing something.  I do not feel anything in the steering wheel.  I checked the dust shield by the brakes and all the pulleys are tight.  Any ideas?  Thanks in advance.

Have someone sit behind the wheel while you observe the power steering pump during the rubbing sound.

     Check all the front of the engine bay and underside of the truck when the noise happens.

Your pitman arm to centerlink joint when dry makes a creaking noise some times and popping noise at other times

Checked everything I can think of.  All looks normal.  I believe I may need to change the pump out. : (    Thanks for the replies.  I'll let you know if the pump fixes it.

If you replace the pump, be sure to completely flush the system with fresh fluid.  Fill with GM spec power steering fluid or full synthetic p/s fluid rather than ATF.  Avoid fluids with stop leak.
