ugh....sunroof

I found what i think has to be the most perfect older truck ive ever seen, spotless mint body and shiny silver paint, really nice int, seat looks like its never been sat in, this truck looks like it came off the showroom floor ....anyhow, im looking for a truck thats basically stock original in that it hasnt been lifted, chopped up dash for an aftermarket cd player ect, id buy this thing in a minute except.....some previous owner cut a sunroof in this otherwise perfect truck. The job looks like it was done decent but personally i hate it and wasnt even willing to test drive it after seein that. My point.....is basically can it be replaced with a reg roof, whats a reasonable cost and is it worth doing? would it be too easy to end up with a job that gets messed up or just too much trouble to bother?

      It is not hard at all to replace the roof, if you can find the replacement roof.  Any decent body shop should be able to do that repair, or someone who has done body work before.  As far as price, you will have to shop around and see what there is and if it is fair to you.
      What I would say is fair, would be outrageous for someone else only because I live in CA. and prices are generally higher here.

I dont think any "replacement roof" would honestly be hard to find, as this should be able to be taken from litterally any boneyard 73-87 truck correct?

     Correct, I just do not know what part of the country you live in.  For me, 10 min online and I could find at least 3 or 4, but some people say they never can find rust free trucks.

seriously?? this truck is an 84k10, would it show that in the option list usually found in the glove box??

and these are factory installed sunroofs?? if so, this could(?) be the first ive ever seen, tho im still easily willing to bet its aftermarket installed

not factory, but a dealership thing. at least this is what i have stored in my mind. i would wait till more credible facts came around before taking that to the bank. most do hate them as they tend to leak

The dealers probably did offer an aftermarket sunroof as an option.  That really isn't any different than taking it to someone yourself and getting it done.  It isn't factory either way.  Replacing a roof isn't the hardest job in the world, but if you pay someone it won't come cheap.  I'd find another truck.  I think you're looking at $2k to $3k to put a new roof on.  If you could do it yourself it wouldn't cost too much--just a fair amount of labor.

Piece of cake if you have a headliner that needs to be replaced anyway.  If it is a Custom Deluxe or Scottsdale without a headliner than a whole roof would be in order.

You don't need to replace the whole roof

Unless the truck sits really low you could just replace the headliner

You can't see the top of most pickups roofs anyway
You'd never know it was there
