87 350 TBI no fuel
« on: October 18, 2014, 03:35:08 pm »
87 Chevy 350 TBI no fuel to TBI. I replaced the left side fuel pump and I can hear it come on and I hear a "click" when I switch between tanks. If I pour fuel in TBI it fires up and runs if I keep my foot on the gas then it stalls when I take my foot off the gas. Bad selection value? Easy to replace? The right tank same

Check the fuel pressure and the regulator. Can you pinch off the return hose?

Check for vacuum leaks as well

I replaced the selection valve and can switch between tanks however I have to keep it at around 2K RPM and it runs smooth then starts to breakdown and will stall if I take my foot off. I took the fuel pressure sping out and the diapham both look good, TBI was rebuilt a few months ago. Pinched the return line no change I replaced the filter as well. I borrowed a fuel pressure gauge but it leaks so I have to go another so not sure what pressure I'm getting. I know the timing is off a little but don't think it s the issues. Any ideas?

Begin by checking the fuel pressure and regulator as Vile recommended.

Problem solved bad regulator however no gas when I switch to the left tank. Runs great on right tank. Left tank has new pump can hear pump priming put my hand on the selection value (new as well) and feel it click but no gas. Plan to put a fuel pressure gauge on it I guess before the selection valve what pressure should I look for 14? If ok maybe the selection valve is bad any other thoughts?

Update no pressure on the left side hear it click but nothing. I wouldn't think the selection value is bad because it's new. I switched relays no difference is there anything else that wouldn't allow the tank to pump gas
