« on: October 31, 2014, 05:34:23 pm »
Hey Hey

Thanks

You Cant get those rivets. If you could it would make things so much easier for car thieves to do tag jobs on stolen cars  :'(

I used a file to modify plain rivets on a swap once. The last few times I just used regular rivets.

Most states have procedures for obtaining title to untitled vehicles.
Moving the vin is very illegal.

Just use regular rivets. It's not illegal to pull the VIN off of your truck and put it back on because you didn't want to get paint on it!

You can probably knock em off from the bottom and glue it back

I can neither confirm nor deny ever having done this

CHanging lanes without signaling is illegal too

this is completely 100% wrong. in most states before you touch the vin you have to have state police inspect it, then once your done with your resto they have to reinspect it to make sure its still the same truck. or chop shops would be using this excuse all the time. if you do get caught the burdens on you to prove its not stolen or the original vin other wise its impounded and you get sent to jail.

They wana check my trucks they are more than welcome to. The vin tag matches the frame number. If they can find the # on the frame they will be one up on me. All the years, dozens & dozens of these trucks I have torn apart, I have yet to find the frame number.

technically true

But it's more of a "don't ask - don't tell" kinda deal

Unless its being used for a fraudulent purpose

had a cop pull me over he was young i was young. we both had this attitude that we were right. i passed an empty school bus (which was legal) he pulled me over and started screaming "whats wrong with you, you made an illegal pass" i said no i didnt" he said "yes you did" i said it was a broken line when i passed" he said it was solid line when when i finished. then asked for my insurance and registration. i gave it to him. he then starts to match the vin to the registration. i had a dash mat on my truck but it had the hole for the vin. he then starts saying this is illegal. and opens my door with out telling me to look for a vin on the door i started to laugh and said your not going to find anything there. both being pissed i ripped the dash mat up just to give him a clear look. he studys the vin and writes me a ticket.

he was 100% right about it being illegal to pass cause i didnt finish on a broken line. but if he would of saw something wrong with my vin which he was trying to do. he would of locked me up and impounded my truck. if you give them a reason they will find anything they can to bust you. but even if it did look wrong he would of still locked me up and impounded my truck till they inspected everything they can to prove their case. then i would have to pay impound fees.

now that being said and i was to write a book called "if i did it" like OJ did it it would say something to the effect of removing the windshield and drilling out the many spot welds on both trucks and welding it back together then putting the windshield back in. but i must add the 86 that the cop searched was 100% legal and the dash and vin never got touched
