1975 Chevy Long Bed in California

Hello!  Just acquired a 1975 Chevy Long bed in trade for a 2001 Honda Accord I used to have.  Its a working project so hopefully will be very useful to me as I slowly fix it up.  Currently has a strong inline 6 which I am debating keeping or upgrading to a bigger engine. 

Previous Owner put a 1982 GMC front clip on it about 10 years ago.  Only real issues that I need to figure is the gas gage and tachometer do not work, hopefully this is a simple fuse problem.  Also apparently the aftermarket radio is draining the battery or the battery itself is not holding its charge.

I am a Novice to this site and a Novice to having a project vehicle so should be allot of hands on learning!

Welcome from NW Indiana.  The Tach cluster may have been added on by the previous owner and not wired in.  75 with a 6 cylinder would be rare having a tach but just cause I have never seen one doesn't mean they didn't exist...

1975 is sooooo close being emissions exempt, but not quite there. Think carefully about the smog nazis as you plan your project. You don't want to spend a bundle only to find out you can't register it.

1975 is smog exempt here in Cali 1976 is the first year they require it.

For the gas gauge check the post on how to test one in the Technical section.
For the speeedo, is the cable connected at the speedo gauge and the transmission?
