350 build for 83 k10

Ok guys. I picked up this 83 that supposedly had a 350 😤 yea right. Is say that the guy put in a gallon of motor hubby and prayed i bought it.
After it leaked and burned 1 1/2 quarts in 150 miles I decided a simple rebuild. Was in order.
Well that is not going to happen. After pulling the valve cover and actually digging the head bolts out of the sludge. It came to me that I had indeed a 305.
So I've lined up several 4 bolt engines to look at tomorrow.
And Ive been thinking of using vortec heads.
Tonight I found some bare aluminum vortec heads that are made for both style intakes and valve covers. On ebay. Has anyone seen these. Or used them?
They are set up for 202 160 valves. Screw in studs. Blah blah blah.
I already have a old performer intake and I just rebuilt a 1405 and put on a electric choke. So I have a bit of a start.
In wanting a nice driver with moderate power. I often pull a car hauler and very often pull a boat.
This will also be my daily.
Any and all input is appreciated

The bigger valves are good. Vortec is good.
Cam it for torque, not horsepower. You brag about horsepower, but you drive torque.
That'll help with towing, too.

A lot cheaper to get a crate motor from the GM dealer
Or a good used vortec from a wrecked suburban
Goodrunning used 350s are $500
Make sure you can hear it run before you buy

You can put a Comp 12-300-4 cam ($150) in a GM 350/260hp crate engine ($1500 delivered), and with a dual-plane manifold and headers get 420+ lbft of torque at 2500 rpm, which is a ton of grunt down where you can use it. Not Vortec heads, but it's a brand-new engine with a 150,000 mile life expectancy.

Where are you looking these up. Maybe I'll look into it.
Thanks.
Just no engine from junkyard to the truck for me.

That engine can be pretty fun. Have one in my 91 camaro. That's in a vette tho, that's not a problem tho. There are a few companies that make performance kits and parts for that engine, including improved intakes, upper plenums and improved intake tubes (the 8 big tubes from the upper plenum to intake. Bigger throttle bodies and such are also available.

Well I bought the engine. 1500.00
That is for everything
Accessories
A/C lines
Wire harness
Computer
OBD
EVERYTHING
I really don't think I got hurt. I ran the engine. Sounds great. And they are pulling it.
