Dual fuel tank switch ultimate fix....
« on: November 22, 2014, 06:51:23 pm »
I have been fighting with the electric switch valve and fuel gauge switch since I have bought my truck 2 years ago. The switch would always work fine until i was in the woods or on some desolated back road and it would stop functioning. The gauge never switched tanks properly, but i just got used to watching the miles run on each tank.  I have replaced the valve multiple times and the sending units multiple times. Ive read and reread every post on this forum countless times (thank all of you for all your help)   I finally came to the conclusion that the system is just unreliable and prone to breaking. I found a boat fuel valve that has both a supply and return port. I welded a bracket under the cab and ran the valve handle into the cab just under the seat where you can reach it when driving. I wired up two separate gas gages, one dedicated to each tank.....no more issues and a fuel system that is fool proof (knock on wood).  Hoping this idea may end someone elses frustration.

very simple bullet proof part with a theft proof setting to off (doubt they ever look under the seat for a valve handle)
